Make the message immediate

Fullscreen text works best when someone should understand the screen in a single glance. Put the action or identifying word first and remove details that can be explained later.

A short static phrase is usually easier to read than a long animated sentence. If the message needs more than one line, give each line one job.

Use the whole screen well

Rotate a phone into landscape when the message is wider than it is tall. Raise brightness in daylight, silence notifications, and keep browser controls out of the way with fullscreen mode.

On a laptop, projector, or TV, step away from the display before relying on it. A message that looks large at arm’s length may still be too dense across a room.

Choose static or scrolling text

Static text is the dependable default for names, directions, prices, and short instructions. Every word is available at the same moment.

Scrolling text is useful when a phrase cannot fit without becoming too small. Keep the speed calm enough that a person can join the message midway and still understand it.
