Choose between static and scrolling text
Movement can create room and attract attention, but static text is often faster to understand. Choose the mode that matches the reader’s task.

Use static text when the message fits and must be checked quickly. Use slow, continuous scrolling when a useful phrase cannot remain large enough while fully visible.

Use static text for instant confirmation
Names, prices, numbers, directions, and short instructions should usually remain visible. The reader can find the information immediately and look back without waiting.
Static text also works better when people approach at different moments or need to compare the screen with another sign.

Use scrolling text to protect type size
A longer greeting or announcement can scroll when fitting the full phrase would make the letters too small. Movement trades simultaneous visibility for larger characters.
The loop must be continuous and calm. The reader should be able to join midway, see the entire message, and recognize where it repeats.
Test both modes with the real reader
Start with static text and shorten the phrase. If essential words still do not fit, try scrolling and watch one complete loop from the actual distance.

It can be, because the words are not visible at the same time. A short phrase, calm speed, and continuous loop reduce the reading effort.
When should I always prefer static text?
Prefer static text for a short name, price, number, direction, urgent instruction, or anything the reader must confirm immediately.
Can a message mix static and scrolling text?
A designed display can, but one clear mode is usually more dependable on a small screen. Keep the essential element static if you combine them.
